A step closer to bringing a Banking Hub to Sidmouth
Cash Access UK, the organisation set up to protect nationwide access to cash, has confirmed today that the new Banking Hub in Sidmouth will be located at Market Place (the former Joules store).
The Hub, when it opens, will offer a counter service operated by the Post Office, where customers of all major banks and building societies can carry out regular cash transactions, Monday to Friday, 9.00am - 5.00pm. There will also be a Community Banker service where customers can talk to their own bank about more complicated issues on the day their bank is in the Hub. Community Bankers will work on rotation, with a different bank available on each day of the week:
Monday: NatWest
Tuesday: Santander
Wednesday: HSBC
Thursday: Lloyds
Friday: Barclays
Finding the right location for a Banking Hub that is convenient, accessible and works for everyone often takes time so Cash Access UK is delighted to have been able to secure convenient premises in the heart of the community. This development is a significant step forward in bringing a Banking Hub to Sidmouth.
The team at Cash Access UK are now working hard to fit out the new premises and will update the community on progress and an opening date as soon as they can. The Sidmouth Banking Hub page on the Cash Access UK website will provide updates as works progress.
There are currently 31 Banking Hubs open across the country including Axminster and Brixham with three further Hubs recommended in Dartmouth, Dawlish and Teignmouth that will likely open next year.
Gareth Oakley, CEO at Cash Access UK: “We are pleased to confirm that we’ve secured a location for the new Hub in Sidmouth. The next steps are refurbishing the building and hopefully we can look forward to opening in the coming months.”
Simon Jupp, MP for East Devon: “I am really pleased to confirm the location of Sidmouth’s new banking hub. The old Joules store is right at the heart of the town and as a Sidmouth resident, I’m looking forward to my first visit. Being able to access face-to-face banking advice is crucial for many customers and businesses in the Sid Valley. I have been working closely to bring the banking hub to our town and I’d like to see others open across our part of Devon.”
