Acomb banking hub opens

Published on 19 February 2025

Acomb Explore Library on Front Street is providing a temporary home to the area's new banking hub while Cash Access UK continues to look for a permanent home for the service.

The hub offers a counter service operated by the Post Office, where customers of all major banks can carry out regular cash transactions, Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm. It also offers a community banker service where customers can talk to their own bank about more complicated issues on the day their bank is in the hub:

Monday: Barclays

Tuesday: No community banker available

Wednesday: HSBC (coming soon)

Thursday: NatWest

Friday: Lloyds (coming soon)

While the hub in Acomb is up and running today, Cash Access UK can confirm it is currently working to secure a long term home for the banking hub which will offer the same services. Local residents can check for updates on our website.

This is the fourth banking hub to open in North Yorkshire following Richmond, Filey, and Knaresborough. Another banking hub is planned for Whitby.

Gareth Oakley, CEO at Cash Access UK: ā€œIā€™m happy to announce that the new banking hub in Acomb is now open, giving local residents renewed access to cash and in-person banking services. The hub is available for everyday banking transactions every day of the week, and for more specific or complex enquiries, a community banker will be on-site to assist on designated days.ā€
