Bakewell’s banking hub opens its doors
The Derbyshire Dales has a new banking hub in Bakewell, located in a temporary home inside The Agricultural Business Centre.
Customers of all major banks can visit any weekday between 9am-5pm to carry out regular cash transactions including cash withdrawals and deposits as well as checking balances or paying bills. Additionally, the hub also offers a community banker service where customers can talk to their own bank in a private space about more complicated issue on the day their bank is in the hub:
Monday: Barclays
Tuesday: HSBC
Wednesday: Lloyds
Thursday: NatWest
Friday: Halifax
While the hub in Bakewell is up and running today, Cash Access UK can confirm it is currently working to secure a long-term home for the banking hub which will offer the same services. Local residents can check for updates on our website.
The hub was recommended by LINK, the UK’s Cash Access and ATM network, following a community request with support from John Whitby, MP for Derbyshire Dales. This is the fourth banking hub to open in Derbyshire following Belper, Clay Cross and Shirebrook. Two more hubs are currently in progress in Ashbourne and Glossop.
This is one of 11 banking hubs that are being opened today across the UK. The other 10 are in Fleetwood, Hayle, Keynsham, Redruth, Wetherby, Alsager, Ballynahinch, Dorking, Dunbar, and Newland.
Derbyshire Dales District Council Leader Steve Flitter: "We have worked hard behind the scenes in recent months with Cash Access UK to make this happen and it will be terrific for Bakewell and surrounding villages to have convenient local banking facilities again."
Gareth Oakley, CEO at Cash Access UK: “I’m happy to announce that the new banking hub in Bakewell is now open, giving local residents renewed access to cash and in-person banking services. The hub is available for everyday banking transactions every day of the week, and for more specific or complex enquiries, a community banker will be on-site to assist on designated days.”
