London’s first Banking Hub in Acton now open
Politicians, bankers, local dignitaries and the nation’s most trusted financial expert gathered in Acton yesterday (15 June) to formally open the capital’s first Banking Hub.
Located at the The Oaks Shopping Centre the Hub offers a counter service operated by the Post Office, where customers of all major banks and building societies can carry out regular cash transactions. The Hub also offers a Community Banker service where customers can talk to their own banking provider about more complicated issues. It will be open Monday to Friday between 9am-5pm and the Community Bankers will work on rotation, with a different bank or building society available on each day of the week:
Monday: Natwest
Tuesday: Barclays
Wednesday: Lloyds Bank
Thursday: Nationwide Building Society
Friday: Santander
The hub will make it easier for local residents to access banking services, residents like Maire Lowe who has lived in Acton for almost 40 years and commented:
“The new banking hub is a fantastic addition to Acton’s high street. It will make a huge difference to people in the community and the many local businesses who need cash services”.
Martin Lewis CBE, Founder, Money Saving Expert who officially unveiled the new hub said:
"I have long been a supporter for access to cash.”
“The more of us who don’t touch cash the more important it is that we champion access to cash for those people who will be left behind – the vulnerable, the information and internet disenfranchised, many elderly people.”
