Bodmin Banking Hub opens in permanent home
A new Banking Hub for Bodmin has opened at 6 Fore Street. The official opening will take place between on 8th November between 11am and 12pm. Councillor Leigh Frost will be in attendance to cut the ribbon.
The Hub will continue to offer a counter service operated by the Post Office, where customers of all major banks can carry out regular cash transactions, Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm. It will also offer a Community Banker service where customers can talk to their own bank about more complicated issues on the day their bank is in the Hub. Community Bankers will work on rotation, with a different bank available on each day of the week:
Monday: Halifax (from December 2024)
Tuesday: Lloyds (from December 2024)
Wednesday: HSBC
Thursday: NatWest
Friday: Barclays
The Hub was initially recommended by LINK, the UK’s cash access and ATM network, following the announcement of the closure of the town’s last remaining bank branch. Earlier this year, while the site for the permanent Hub was being refurbished, a temporary Hub was opened in the Shire House. The temporary Hub is now closed.
This is the fourth Banking Hub to open in Cornwall, following Saltash, Helston, and Looe. Cash Access UK is also working to open Hubs in Newquay and Bude.
Gareth Oakley, CEO at Cash Access UK: “I’m happy to announce the opening of our Bodmin Hub, ensuring crucial access to cash and face-to-face banking services which are vital to both residents and businesses across the community. Customers can visit on any day of the week for their everyday banking transactions and if you have a specific or more complex enquiry for your bank, a community banker will be there to help on the day they’re in the Hub.”
