Great Harwood temporary Banking Hub opens

Published on 19 August 2024

A temporary Banking Hub is now open in Great Harwood at Bank Mill House, Great Harwood, BB6 7NF.

The temporary Hub will be open five days a week and will remain available until the new permanent Banking Hub opens. It offers a counter service operated by the Post Office, where customers of all major banks can carry out regular cash transactions, Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm. It also offers a Community Banker service where customers can talk to their own bank about more complicated issues on the day their bank is in the Hub:

Monday: NatWest

Tuesday: Halifax

Wednesday: Santander

Thursday: Barclays

Friday: Lloyds

While the temporary Hub is up and running today, Cash Access UK is continuing to progress the search for a permanent home for the Banking Hub. In the coming months, they will provide updates and the temporary Hub will remain open until the permanent Hub opens. Local residents can also check for updates on our website.

This will be the second Banking Hub in Lancashire following Barnoldswick. There are three more Hubs planned for Darwen, Bacup, and Kirkham.

Cllr Noordad Aziz, Joint Deputy Leader of the Council and Great Harwood Councillor: "The temporary banking hub in Great Harwood is a welcome addition to the town’s high street. These hubs offer easy access to face-to-face banking services, which several residents - especially our elderly - have previously raised as a concern to us, and we look forward to seeing the development of the hub in coming months.”

Gareth Oakley, CEO at Cash Access UK: “Following the opening of the new temporary Banking Hub in Great Harwood today, I am delighted to say that local residents can now enjoy access to cash and face-to-face banking services once again. We are working hard to secure a permanent home for the Hub and will provide an update to the community soon.”
