Haverhill Banking Hub opens in permanent home

Published on 7 November 2024

A new Banking Hub in Haverhill has opened in its permanent home at Unit 1, The Chauntry Centre. The official opening will take place between on 12th November between 11am and 12pm. Everyone is welcome to attend.

The Hub will continue to offer a counter service operated by the Post Office, where customers of all major banks can carry out regular cash transactions, Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm. It will also offer a Community Banker service where customers can talk to their own bank about more complicated issues on the day their bank is in the Hub. Community Bankers will work on rotation, with a different bank available on each day of the week:

Monday: HSBC

Tuesday: NatWest

Wednesday: Lloyds (from December)

Thursday: Santander

Friday: Barclays

The Hub was initially recommended by LINK, the UK’s cash access and ATM network, following the announcement of the closure of the town’s last remaining bank branch. Earlier this year, while the site for the permanent Hub was being refurbished, a temporary Hub was opened in the Haverhill library. The temporary Hub is now closed.

This will be the first permanent Banking Hub to open in Suffolk with four more planned for Hadleigh, Leiston, Mildenhall, and Woodbridge.

Gareth Oakley, CEO at Cash Access UK: “I'm delighted that that the permanent Banking Hub in Haverhill is now open. I’d like to thank the library for being hospitable while we were getting the new home ready. Customers can visit on any day of the week for their everyday banking transactions and if you have a specific or more complex enquiry for your bank, a community banker will be there to help on the day they’re in the Hub.”
