Morriston Banking Hub opens

Published on 11 December 2024

Morriston's new banking hub, located in the former Halifax branch at 108a Woodfield Street will officially be opened on Friday 13th December between 11am and 12pm.

Torsten Bell, MP for Swansea West will be there to cut the ribbon.

Everyone is welcome to attend.

The hub will offer a counter service operated by the Post Office, where customers of all major banks can carry out regular cash transactions, Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm. It also offers a community banker service where customers can talk to their own bank about more complicated issues on the day their bank is in the hub. In Westhoughton, the community bankers are available on the following days:

Monday: Halifax (coming soon)
Tuesday: Lloyds
Wednesday: HSBC
Thursday: NatWest
Friday: Barclays

Finding the right location for a banking hub that is convenient, accessible and works for everyone often takes time, so Cash Access UK is delighted to have been able to secure convenient premises in the heart of the community. Earlier this year, while the site for the permanent hub was being refurbished, a temporary hub was opened at Morriston Tabernacle Church, Woodfield St. The temporary Hub is now closed.

The Morriston Hub is the seventh to open in Wales with four more recommended in the country.

Gareth Oakley, CEO at Cash Access UK: “I’m happy to announce the opening of the permanent home of our Morriston Hub, ensuring crucial access to cash and face-to-face banking services which are vital to both residents and businesses across the community. Customers can visit on any day of the week for their everyday banking transactions and if you have a specific or more complex enquiry for your bank, a community banker will be there to help on the day they’re in the Hub.”
