Temporary Banking Hub opens in Richmond with permanent location confirmed
A new banking hub in Richmond has opened today in its temporary home at the Post Office on Finkle Street.
We can also confirm that we have secured a permanent home for the Banking Hub which will be located at 20 King Street (in the former Day Lewis Pharmacy). The Rt Hon Rishi Sunak, MP for Richmond and Northallerton, recently visited the site of the permanent location to meet Cash Access UK and see the work being carried out to fit out the new premises.
The temporary Hub will be open five days a week and will remain available until the new permanent Banking Hub opens. It offers a counter service operated by the Post Office, where customers of all major banks can carry out regular cash transactions, Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm. It also offers a Community Banker service where customers can talk to their own bank about more complicated issues on the day their bank is in the Hub:
Monday: NatWest
Tuesday: Lloyds
Wednesday: HSBC
Thursday: No community banker available
Friday: Halifax
This the third Banking Hub to open in North Yorkshire with Hubs already open in Knaresborough and Filey. There is also a nearby Hub open in Newton Aycliffe. Whitby’s Hub will open next year. Cash Access UK will open the 100th Banking Hub by the end of the year..
Gareth Oakley, CEO at Cash Access UK: “I’m happy to announce that the new temporary Banking Hub in Richmond is now open, giving local residents renewed access to cash and in-person banking services. The Hub is available for everyday banking transactions every day of the week, and for more specific or complex enquiries, a community banker will be on-site to assist on designated days. We're grateful that the Post Office has provided us with this temporary space, which will allow us to continue work on the permanent home.”
Rishi Sunak, MP for Richmond and Northallerton: "It was good to see work well underway on Richmond's new banking hub. It is a great location just off the marketplace and I am sure it will be well used when it opens in the new year. Access to cash is important and for many people, the opportunity to see representatives of their bank face-to-face is highly valued. The establishment of the hub makes that possible for customers of many of the High Street banks that previously had standalone branches in the town."
